4th Challenge ?
Which 4th challenge you would like to see in this league ?

As we discussed with some organization crew, too much teams will be disapointed if we remove Instagib from the league. BUT, we can add a 4th challenge.

Please, don't answer TDM if you played ONLY TDM tongue Test mods before answering.

Personnal opinion :
I think another challenge out from CTF could be very very very fun !
- Not TDM because there is always TDM servers and no clan playing in. TDM needs too much strategy skills and preparations for maps and this league should promote OpenArena and not be played only for strategy/stress skills.
- I choose Elimination, because it is very very very fun mod biggrin I think it could be very interesting for propote OpenArena.

I chose Elimination as well. I agree it is very fun :D. Having another gametype besides ctf would make it more fun. smile

There is a mod called rocket-rail, I think we could get some fun out of that one, it has its difficulties.

Yes Ghosty, I love this mod too biggrin !!! But we have a Rocket Challenge and Instagib Challenge... Rocket-Rail is interesting in CTF, but we should add another challenge out from CTF.

all rockets isn't fun in my opinion.

The server CTF ALL ROCKETS is one of most played server... Rocket-launcher is one of most used weapon from Q3 ; in OA the pro-players are too much used to RG & LG -- this challenge is here to diversify the game-play : no sens to play 3 challenges with same 1 or 2 weapons. I think we shouldn't remove it...

CPMA may change this though VQ3 shaft with xerp is still very powerful.

I vote for TDM. This gametype has more depth for me with power ups and item picking than Clan Arena, although CA is also good.

There were so far only two OA maps suited for TDM (oa_koth1 and slimefac) but you can find quite a lot of good TDM maps available for free download (ospdm5, ospdm6, cpm4, ospdm14rc1, ospdm15rc3 etc etc.)

I vote for TDM, CA is also great but TDM needs more teamwork and tactic.

... And less fun... That's why we must choose CA ! Because people will more love to play CA than play stressful teamwork and tactic TDM.. biggrin

Actually it might be better to pull out all rockets and have both TDM and CA. Considering weapons should be balanced.

It's true, when i go up to ql and just want to relax and turn off my mind, i join a CA server. smile
I'd say the same as MIOW, remove all rockets and add tdm and ca. The reason i voted for CA, its not the fun factor problem, its the mappool. OA has not soo many great tdm maps and i dont think ppl want to play q3 instead of oa. (if yes, why do they play oa?)

OA doesn't have any map suited for CA(?) (well, 0.8.5 will probably have mlca1) smile

I guess people play OA because most of them started with this game, not Q3. Then they found friends here and had no will to switch over, especially considering Q3 playerbase is a lot stronger.

True, in basic the maps are not for CA. But there are maps, where CA (Or last man standing- i played a lot at 0.76) is fun and not chaos. oa_dm6, dm7(?), oa_shine oa_pvm(or what) or czest1dm. (Sorry, didnt check the correct names before posting). 4-5 would be enough, but for tdm, i dont feel, even these maps, good enough. Its my own opinion, not sure i'm right.
A great mappool is not needed either, 8-9 will do imho, 4-5 basic oa + mlca and 3-4 q3 maps.(or osp or ra3 or whatever you want :P )

In the second part of the post, you can be right, but.. I still think we shouldnt advertise it as a 'cheap clone of q3' (even if it is), better would be 'oa, a good free game - oh, and it uses q3 engine' If ya get, what i mean wink

Well most of those maps don't have a lot of space for tricks (maybe except oa_shine and oa_dm7, but oa_shine has too few levels) so they barely can be considered as suitable for CA. Only reason why they could be better for CA than TDM is bad item/power ups layout.

Also, oa_dm6 is too small. CA is usually played 5v5, but max it can handle is 2v2. Actually it's popular QW map and still being played in CPM as nodm13:

oa_koth1 is relatively small, but we played TDM on both oa_koth1 and slimefac - they seemed fine, that's also what zumz said. slimefac will have improved item layout in new version.
