I think the map pool is great.
it is a big choice and thats reason;)
You are not good if you can almost play on 3-4 maps good, you are good if you and your team can play on every map.

@Popejo, it easy to master a map. I am sure, that is no problem. so start the game and dont play every day the same tongue

I want to make it clear, leagues that have few times more clans have less maps in mappool, e.g. 8. One more example - http://quakequickcup.com/?page=maplist (9 maps for CTF). Note, one of leagues I was referring to forces clans to play certain maps on certain weeks, thus all maps are getting played. What is the point to have 21 maps on CTF all weapons mappool?

- not all of those maps will get played, obviously

- it's too many not even to learn, it's too many maps to play. Average OA clan doesn't play more than 2 practice matches per week, 2-3 maps each. Max of 6 maps per week, it will take at least 4 weeks to play all maps single time. To learn map decently you need to play it tens of times (or even hundreds)

- some maps on mappool are not suited for competitions, in fact were avoided in competitions for years. Some of them are even too small for 4v4 matches

- if oasago2 won't be removed or replaced by remake or restricted for often usage, more than a half of matches gonna be played on this map. Makes sense to have 21 maps on mappool then

I suggest to remove following maps from CTF all weapons:

- 13VAST (BUBCTF1)
- AM_MCKINLEYISH2-A2
- BRICKYARD
- MAPEL4B
- MKBASE
- MLCTF1BETA
- OA_REPTCTF3-A3 (this map is not in the stage of being ready for the league, making this one Neon_Knight was consulting with us and implemented many of our suggestions, he told he has no time to finish it now)
- OASAGO2J
- PS37CTF
- PS9CTF
- QUARTZCTF1
- SPEEDYCTF
- Q3WCP4

Add following:

+ MLCTF1 (it's finally released <3)
+ PS37CTF3

After those changes mappool will have 10 maps.

I also have another idea about CTF mappool. It can be based on this mappack http://lvlworld.com/#c=m1&i=2070 to be different from usual Q3 CTF leagues.

Don't forget that mappool can be changed every season.

Everyone is equal. It will show adaptation skills on maps.

Ok may be we can remove 3 or 4 too small or not professionnal maps. I need other opinions to choose maps to remove..

Hm. It is mathematicaly impossible : there is 3 maps to play by match. I really don't think everyone will choose OASAGO everytime. BTW, I remind you that we'll have 56 matches PER CHALLENGE. It is great to let large choice of maps to don't let the league going boring.

Other important comment :
We need to keep a MAXIMUM of OpenArena maps... Not let only Q3 maps.

This is not about equal or not, less maps will make the games better! When you remove sound everyone is equal, noone has sound, but the game sucks hard.

I agree, when teams are adapting, both to play and to watch is less enjoyable than when they know map well.

ye, delete all the OA maps from the pool and call the League: Q3 League 2010..

so pls.. give a reason to delete this maps from the map pool?
oasago2j9 should be in the map pool. Everyone know and like oasago, the map is played every day.
With speedyctf and ps37ctf its the same. And did you ever played maps like mkbase or q3wcp4? both are very nice maps..
i dont understand why the maps should not be in the map pool.. and MIOW, you are not alone here.. here are some other OA Clans who dont want to play just the maps you like..

But otherwise you are right, but you cant delete so much OA Maps from the pool. ~15 maps would be enough i think.

I was one of the first to play mkbase in OA. Actually RN guys popularized it. Fun map, but it's too small and not serious. Invisibility on CTF map? C`mon biggrin

I dunno maybe there're some reasons why you consider ps37ctf better than ps37ctf3 but mlctf1beta should be replaced by newer version and shouldn't be on that poll I think wink

yea, good im not claustrophobic, otherwise i would get stroke. Playability of those maps is on ZERO degree.

Ofc. Problem is, there are two or max. 3 playable natural OA maps... no way, oa community has to domesticate q3 maps. This league is the first step to start new age.

ah i see a big discussion about the mappool

mh i think the best is a mix between q3 maps and most played maps in oa like oasago (new version or old, its not the problem)

to miow --> nice miow u delete all maps that are nice or good to play, but u have right that q3 maps needed to the mappool,but not only q3 maps !!!!
i think, if u dont play normal oa maps like ps37ctf, oasago.. or speedyctf go to q3 and play there in the league

about maps like mkbase or q3wcp4 --> nice maps and i think big enough to play on a 4 vs 4
